Microsoft Office 2007
Faculty/Staff can obtain MS Office Enterprise 2007 from their computer support technician or from Client Support under our Campus Agreement for campus owned machines. This agreement covers desktops and laptops owned by the University.
Our Campus Agreement for students will provide for each student to receive one copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 for MAC or PC at no charge (it is covered by the technology fee).
The MS Office Enterprise 2007 suite includes the following applications:
Compability Issues
Excel, Word and PowerPoint 2007 use a new Office XML Format. Office 2000/XP/2003 users will not be able to open documents saved in this new XML Format unless they have the Microsoft Compatibility Pack installed. This means that if you are an instructor who has Word 2003 without the Compatibility Pack and your student, who has Office 2007, emails you a Word document in the new XML Format you will not be able to open it.
If you are an Office 2003 user having trouble opening Word 2007 documents you can download the Compatibility Pack from the University's Softweb. You'll find it under "Utilities". If you do not have Administrator rights on your computer you must ask your computer support technician or Client Support for assistance.

Getting Started
This new version isn't so much about new features as it is about the totally different user interface. The biggest challenge is figuring out where the commands you used day to day in Office 2003 are located in Office 2007.
Before you upgrade to MS Office 2007 take a few minutes to go to Microsoft's website and experience the new interface for yourself. We think you will be pleased.
Online Tutorials
Once you upgrade to Office 2007 don't waste valuable time trying to find the commands you use most often. You'll only get frustrated. Microsoft has many self service tools available online to provide a "just in time" learning experience.
